Should I Teach My Baby With Down Syndrome Sign Language?

Language and speech are certainly intricate and provide a good number of challenges towards a child with Down syndrome, that it should be dealt with by means of a well-rounded technique of speech and language therapy. Using sign language in Down syndrome can certainly make living less complicated for everybody concerned. A number of toddlers with Down syndrome may experience some degree of speech delay. There are a few options parents should do to assist their baby with Down syndrome with regards to their language development. Striving to learn as well as producing oral language is definitely challenging for these children for a variety of reasons. They oftentimes learn and get better at a considerably slower pace. They possess limited muscular mass along with shorter legs and arms that makes motions substantially tougher. Developing speech is certainly challenging due to the really low tone of muscle around the facial area and shape and size of the tongue. A significant quantity of babies with Down Syndrome also possess hearing problems, which specialists state make discriminating between very similar sounds and words tough. Their very poor verbal memory suggests that it is extremely challenging remembering as well as forming certain words and phrases plus understanding concepts.

Present research data indicate that any child with Down syndrome finds it tough to learn "through their ears" and much better to recognize, fully grasp and utilize language should you provide total care about aiding them "through their eyes." By simply focusing on presenting a special strategy to developing language, you can make the best of just about any skills in lieu of constantly working to improve on weaknesses. Anytime you present an alternative treatment like sign language that is definitely graphic and physical, it is possible to work together with auditory disadvantages and also make improvements to it steadily while your baby grows up in self-confidence. Signing also provides the bonus over the verbal word or phrase on the grounds that any sign can be kept static as a model to imitate. Hands and fingers could be shaped and molded into signs much more effortless compared to sounds that may be formed into words. Babies with Down syndrome as young as eight to twelve months can effectively learn and make use of sign language. Early intervention programs can provide parents assistance when they're uncertain in relation to raising a child with Down syndrome. They discover ways to look after as well as teach their child. They can learn sign language along with their child to enable them to communicate right until speech builds up.

Anytime you are aiding your baby to become comfortable with a sign, come from behind your toddler and guide your baby's hands make up the shape and create the movements. The exercise is surely a lot more natural in this way. You'll be directing your son or daughter's hands and fingers as if he or she has been forming the sign by himself or herself.

Overwhelmed Special-Needs Parents? Here Is Relief

When you become overwhelmed, take a moment to just stop.

Yes, stop in your tracks.

Ask yourself WHO is overwhelmed? Now the quick answer is "I am overwhelmed and stressed out, of course."

However, that answer is coming instantly from your egoic-mind. The mind run by your ego.

The egoic-mind loves to keep you in chaos.

When you are overwhelmed, if you take the time to tune into what you are thinking, you'll find the stress is coming from your thoughts linked to the past, or the future thoughts of fear.

For example, here is a past thought: "I gotta get this done because I missed a deadline before and this happened ________. I don't want that to happen again."

Here is a future thought: "I gotta get this done, or something awful is probably going to happen."

These thoughts are based on conditions and perceptions. When you stop and just examine the stressful, overwhelming thoughts, you will find you are not living in the here and now moment.

In the present is where you will find inner peace. You will be able to do what you have to do, without getting overwhelmed.

In fact, you will get more done because you are not spending your precious energy with stressful, fearful thoughts draining your life energy.

Instead focus on what you are doing at this very moment. Getting your special-needs child dressed? Stay in the moment and look at the color of the clothes as you slip a shirt of her head. Or how the texture feels. Don't let your mind wander to the next thing.

Your child will most likely feel your anxiety and resist the simplest task. This can be confused with their special-needs, but the truth is any child, without special needs, could feel your tension and resist you.

When you live in the moment, even the most arduous tasks will begin to be OK with you because you are not dreading them. Dreading what you have to do is living in the future. "I hate what I have to do." This only builds up tension and makes the job harder.

So think. Is it the tasks that get you overwhelmed, or the thoughts you are thinking about the tasks?

Be honest. Question your thoughts.

When you begin to observe what you are thinking, you will not be dragged around life like a fallen horseman whose foot is still attached in the saddle of a runaway horse.

Be in the moment.

Don't try to stop your thoughts of being overwhelmed, or criticize them. Just watch as they come and go.

You are now the master and not the slave.

Being a special-needs parent is also taking care of your own special needs, protecting yourself from being overwhelmed.

Love, light and blessings, Janet

Protecting Your Websites on Bluehost

One of the problems with virtual workers is that until trust is established, you can't give strangers full access to your budding empire. It is imperative that you instigate ways to protect your websites from accidents or sabotage. If you have several different websites (and if you don't, why are you reading this?), you need a way to isolate them from each other.

It can be foolhardy to hand cPanel control over to an unknown webmaster. It is possible to do great damage from the cPanel screen. The list of problems you can have when you give out uncontrolled access includes; shutting down your websites (through incompetence or malice), shutting down your entire account at Bluehost (through the webmaster breaking the Terms of Service), to having your account hijacked and held hostage.

If any of your sites are your source of income, however small, you don't want that site to be the experimental stage for budding webmasters. So how can you both test applicants and protect your sites? I have several sites that have been established for years. I also share the webspace with a business partner. There is no way I can give an untried, untrusted person full cPanel access to my Bluehost account.

I have come up with the following procedure to isolate my websites. My method involves setting up a password protected FTP account to the folder that contains the files for my test site. All of my Bluehost sites are Add-on domains. Of course, I have password protected FTP access to the root domain, which gives me access to all of the sub-folders.

For security purposes, when I want to test a new prospective webmaster, I first create a new Add-on domain in Bluehost. This involves purchasing the domain name, creating the account as an Add-on domain, installing the basic version of WordPress, and creating a backup. This takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

I then set up a new FTP account, password protected, to allow my prospective webmaster the ability to transfer files to and from that website's root folder. I then add an account in WordPress for the new user.

Here is a procedure you can use to assign each of your websites a separate FTP login and password:

Start out by logging in to your Bluehost account:

Scroll down to the Files section and select "FTP Accounts"

You will arrive at a new window that allows you to add an FTP account, named "Add FTP Account".

For our purposes, we don't want to use the standard options. We want to create unique FTP accounts for the domain or sub-domain just created. This will allow the prospective webmaster access to only that domain.

So, create a unique Login ID for this individual account. Make sure that your login info for the Add on domain is NOT the same as your master FTP account.

Password can be either created by you or you can use the auto generate function built in to the Bluehost page.

Note that the program automatically filled the "Directory:" field with a directory of the same name as your login. This is because the standard use for this tool is to create new directories. In our case, we are creating an FTP account for an existing directory, so we will have to change that entry. Change the "Directory:" pointer to point to the directory of the site that you wish to provide access to. It is important that you point to the correct directory, this will be in the form "/home/mainsite/mysite".

I leave the "Quota:" set to unlimited. You might want to set limits on your sites, but I have not found it necessary.

Next, Press the "Create FTP Account" button.

You will see an info screen once the account has been created. This is the username and password for FTP access to that folder. You must give this info to your webmaster so she can access the account with FileZilla. Naturally, keep a copy for yourself.

Next, test the access using my favorite FTP client, Filezilla.

Open your FileZilla program.

Select "File Site Manager..."

Select "New Site" to create a login for your new FTP site.

Name your new site something creative; "mysite" is my favorite choice for demos.

Then enter the information to log in to your new site, using the information from the Bluehost account settings screen. To enter the info, you will also need to set the "Logontype:" parameter from "Anonymous" to "Normal"

Next, test your login by pressing the "Connect" button:

A successful connection will allow you to transfer files to and from the folder of your selected domain. You should not have access to any other folders on the hosting server with this username/password combination.

Now the user you designate can access the selected directory using the FTP information provided. However, she will only have access to that selected directory. This will prevent opening up all of your Bluehost domains and sub-domains to any single user.

Here are the advantages of this system:

The new user must use FileZilla (or an equivalent program) to add or remove files to the site. This is a test of basic web functions. I have had several applicants tell me that they could not perform this function. They were not invited to continue.

The new user must be able to use the built in WordPress account (Admin level, of course) to perform a WordPress upgrade, theme installation, and plug-in setup. If they cannot perform these functions, they do not pass the screening.

The new user must be able to install and use my favorite backup tool, WPTwin, to back up the new site.

As your trust with the new webmaster grows, you can add access to other sites you own using the same method. If the worker proves to be not up to the tasks you assign, the password can easily be changed on that FTP account (under the "FTP Accounts" section of your cPanel), blocking their access to your site. You can then give out a new password to another applicant to allow access to the site.

The disadvantages are that you will have to have already purchased a URL, set up a site, and installed WordPress. As noted above, this usually takes me less than an hour. However, I feel that the peace of mind from taking these steps outweighs the pain of setting up the sites. The same sites can also be used again later, for future webmaster tests, allowing you to easily review your applicants.

Is Fanfiction Legal?

Fanfiction -- fan-created pictures or stories based on another book or based in the universe of someone else's creation -- is an extremely common way for readers to celebrate an author or the world of that author's imagination and to connect with other fans. But is fanfiction legal?

To determine the legality of fanfiction, let's first take a look at what the law says about the topic.

The rights of a copyright owner

Just by writing a story or novel, the author hold an automatic copyright to that story or novel. No official registration is necessary (although you can bet that any widely published author's material has been officially registered by the time it reaches your eyes, either by the author's efforts or through the author's publishing house).

The copyright owner obviously owns the right to put his or her name on the material and claim it (rightfully) as his or her own, but there are other rights automatically granted to a copyright owner that will become relevant to our discussion on fanfiction. Those rights include:

The right to reproduce the work The right to display, perform, or play the work in public The right to distribute copies of the work The right to prepare derivative works

(You'll notice that the copyright holder has these exclusive rights regardless of whether or not money changes hands.)

The first three points address using the work in its entirety, which isn't relevant to our discussion on fanfiction. However, we'll need to take a closer look at the fourth point.

Derivative Works

A derivative work, according to the US Copyright Office, is "a work based on or derived from one or more already existing works." Even if the resulting work is a completely different kind of work -- a movie based on a book, for example, or a story written about a song -- basing one work on another created a derivative work.

Another example of a derivative work is the Harry Potter movies -- JK Rowling gave her explicit permission to have the movies made, in exchange for compensation of some sort for her role as the creator of the Harry Potter world.

Fanfiction as a derivative work

It's clear that fanfiction, by its very nature, is based on an existing work.

There are some limitations, such as Fair Use, to a copyright holder's exclusive right to use their material. However, fair use has very specific applications -- educational purposes, criticism, reporting, and so on -- that do not readily apply to fanfiction.

The bottom line: Creating a derivative work is the exclusive right of the copyright holder. Since fanfiction is a derivative work, creating or distributing fanfiction without express permission -- even if you credit the original author, and even if you distribute it for free -- is considered copyright infringement.

Intellectual Property Law And Paralegals: A Perfect Match

Intellectual property law and paralegals go together quite well. The specialized area of law requires quite a bit of research that can be done by a non-attorney, and a paralegal can often help in situations where hiring a second attorney would be prohibitively expensive for both the lawyer and the client. If you are not sure about adding a paralegal to your small firm's staff, consider the benefits of having another helpful professional around. Not only can you increase the amount of work that you get done around the office, but you can safely increase your client load with the knowledge that you have someone to help take care of much of your case work.

Few legal fields are in as much need of experienced paralegals as intellectual property law. Consider for a moment how much time you as an attorney spend doing research, filing paperwork, or simply catching up on the current state of the art. All of these tasks can be performed by a paralegal, freeing you up to concentrate on analyzing and interpreting the relevant issues. A paralegal with experience in intellectual property law will be able to perform research as well as an attorney, and may actually have more experience doing the menial tasks that are necessary to prepare a case for trial. If you are not working with a paralegal, you might be resigning yourself to too many long nights at the office.

You might consider hiring a paralegal to be an expense that your small firm cannot handle, but the truth of the matter is that a good paralegal can help you to make more money. If you can free up some of your time by assigning research and filing tasks to another individual, you will have the freedom to take on a heavier caseload. You will still charge the same rate, but you may be able to handle more clients at one time. A paralegal can help you to focus on the important tasks of practicing law while still allowing you to see to the needs of a number of different clients.

Consider the act of hiring a paralegal to be equivalent to that of hiring a new associate. You cannot simply take anyone with a paralegal certification; you will need someone with significant intellectual property experience. As you well know, intellectual property can be confusing, hard to research, and it requires incredibly specialized knowledge. There are many paralegals looking for work that have the skills that you need, but you should take your time to find the right person to help your firm.

Why hire a paralegal? They can help you to increase your billable hours while helping to decrease your overall workload. A good paralegal can handle many of the same research and filing tasks that you currently handle yourself, allowing you to devote more time and energy to managing your clients' cases. Hiring a skilled paralegal may require a significant expense for a small firm, but it is an expense that will more than pay for itself over time.

Crucial Data and Events at Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines was the recipient of the "Market Leadership Award 2011", given by Air Transport World, a leading magazine within the aviation industry. The presentation for the award was held in Washington D.C. and represents and internationally recognized achievement for the airline.

As we all know, the past number of years have been an exceedingly challenging environment for just about all businesses around the world. The airline industry is universally recognized as following national and global economies, in general. And yes Turkish Airlines consistently showed profitable operating balances throughout difficult years, which could be seen as a testimony to their powerful marketing and innovative management.

Also, one more US flight gateway was added to this list in June, 2010 for Turkish Airlines. This newest expansion increases the total number of US originated gateways to three with nonstop flights from Washington DC to Istanbul, Turkey. There will be four flights per week flying out of Dulles International Airport. The airliner of choice will be the Airbus A330. The move represents continued efforts to allow more Americans the opportunity to discover the beauty of Turkey and all she has to offer. Surely, one could say that Istanbul has both old world and modern charm. In addition, there are plans for a fourth gateway that is planned for March 2011 that will begin in Los Angeles CA and stop in Istanbul.

Since the Turkish Airlines have enjoyed a good run of profitable years, they are in an excellent place to do what a majority of business should be doing. The airlines have been showing their marketing wisdom because they are branding their business in a very good manner globally. We have the opinion that this company moves fast and is ready to take over the very competitive market of aviation and flight travel globally. Not only has there been a lot of sport celebrity multiple year contracts, but the company has expanded their fleet and make improvements all around.

The vast majority of businesses use this principle to advantage. Yet many businesses simply don't bother to reinvest in their own growth, as Turkish Airlines have wisely done. Not only has it made the airline stronger, but it's allowed passengers to reap those.

Two Methods of Finding a General Contractor

Basically, a general contractor is someone who manages construction regardless of how big or small a project is. So if you have problems with construction that is under a contractor, the first thing that you need to do is to approach them. But how does a contractor work? And how can you hire them for a project that you have? This article will be explaining to you the two things that can happen if you have a construction project and is looking for a general contractor.

The first thing that you can do is to start bidding for all the general contractors in your area. When you start the bidding for the contract, all the interested contractors will be submitting their bids for the project. This will help you save a lot of time, since you don't have to look for contractors one by one. All you have to do is to let them know the budget that you have, and the general contractors will be offering you a fixed-price for the project. This will help you find the best price for the construction that you have.

The problem with bidding is that you may not be able to find the best general contractor in your area. Since the best contractors are popular, some of them won't place bids for a project. They are either aiming for large projects or are waiting to be interviewed. Although it doesn't mean that you won't get the best contractor when you open the bidding, it is safe to say that you won't have all the best contractors.

Another method that you can do in order to find a general contractor for the project is to search for them. If you are going to do this, you will be able to research about the background of a general contractor, and be able to ask them if they are willing to work for the project that you have. This will allow you to find only the best in your area, and be able to find those who are not capable of delivering the results that you need.

The problem with this method is that you may not be able to get the lowest price possible for the project. Since you are looking for the best, and that you have asked them for an interview, they'll have a perception that you found them as the best, giving them a chance to offer a higher pricing structure.

Cherry Picker Rental: Fun Jobs That Require A Quick Lift

There are a number of tasks that can require the use of an aerial work platform. Most of these jobs are temporary by nature, and buying a piece of equipment is not practical. Therefore it is often necessary to go with a Cherry Picker Rental. By renting the machine, you can get the work done you need and then you can return the equipment. This is a more practical solution than purchasing a huge piece of equipment that you will not be using on a regular basis. There are a number of tasks that could benefit from having a cherry picker handy, and for each job there is a piece of equipment that will match your needs. While most jobs that use a cherry picker would be considered "work", there are fun activities that can require the use of a lift.

One enjoyable job that could require a cherry picker is hanging Christmas decorations. Because the holiday is seasonal, it would only be necessary to borrow the machine for a little while and then return it. For a home owner, it would be possible to pickup a small scissor lift in order to help get all the decorations up in a safe and timely manner. While it would cost more than using a ladder, the odds of falling are greatly reduced, and it would be a better option than manually putting them up. When you see elaborate Christmas decorations on someone's house, it is very likely that they took advantage of a cherry picker. One brand of lift that you could look at for finding a small scissor lift would be JLG lifts. They are the leader in the access lift industry, and have numerous options for a lift that can fit your needs. They introduced a line of lifts for personal use called the JLG LiftPod which, depending on the scale of your project, could help you get your decorations up.

Another fun activity that could require the use of a Cherry Picker is filming. Numerous college athletic programs will use lifts to get an improved vantage point for filming practice. By using a scissor lift, they are able to get their film teams up in the air and get great footage. This footage helps them get an advantage over the competition by viewing the action from more possible actions. This is very common in college football. Also, when making movies, Hollywood will often utilize pickers to get the necessary shots for filming. For epic shots, they will often use huge cranes to catch all the action. While it might not be necessary for an amateur filmmaker, those who are semi-professional could take advantage of the personal lift line from JLG lifts. By using a smaller mobile lift, they can get angles for shots that they would not be able to get without the use of this type of access platform. In addition to the previously mentioned JLG, there is another well known brand which provides lifts, Genie. Their "GS" line has a number of different sized scissor lifts which could come in handy when trying to accomplish this task. They've spent 30 years developing this line of lifts, and can provide safe and dependable options. A decision to rent a cherry picker can make the difference between a film feeling ordinary or spicing things up with some interesting shots.

When it comes to Cherry Picker Rental, there are a number of construction or agricultural jobs that one thinks, but there are also jobs that can be a good deal of fun. So when you are choosing which cherry picker you want to go with, take into account the job you are trying to accomplish and explore the vast range of lifts that are available on the rental market today.

The Deadly Cherry Investigation

I don't try to make jokes, what I do for a good roll on the floor every now and then is just observe what the government does then report just the facts. Consider the latest debacle or bad joke, you pick, the FDA is attempting to play on the public. The FDA is now saying that good old wholesome cherries that millions of people have eaten for thousands of years is, according to the FDA, a unapproved drug! Yea right, these are also the same people that said eggs were bad for you 20 years ago.

1999 Report Said

According to a substantiated report from "the Journal of Natural Products" in 1999 the facts bore out tart cherries relieves minor pain 33% better than anti-inflammatory drugs as well as aspirin.

This has been known for years for sufferers of gout who consumed up to three pints over a three day period to get rid of the pain. The problem is cherries have lots of carbohydrates so it is easier to take in capsule form while reducing inflammation at a much smaller dose than aspirin.

Cherries is then a Rival of Anti-Inflammatory Meds

In the afore mentioned study 20 cherries when eaten reduced swelling like that of aspirin without the side effects or the depletion of minerals and vitamins in a person's body.

Growers were bloviating pointing towards research on their websites what cherries can do for you when out of nowhere the FDA sent out twenty nine letters of warning saying they will take legal action if the cherry growers did not take down the science from their own sites.

Does it Sound Like the FDA is Power Mad?

If not power mad then extremely irrational behavior could be gleaned from this agency conduct and when you put power in the mix it becomes very dangerous to the growers who are only trying to make a living. This, of course is not news at all, the FDA has had this power mad personality disorder for the last 20 years.

The Government Accounting Office

The GAO nailed a report almost twenty years ago that said, "GAO found that of the 198 drugs approved between 1976 and 1985...102 (or 51.5%) had serious post-approval risks....the serious post approval risks...included heart failure, myocardial infarction, anaphylaxis, respiratory depression and arrest, seizures, kidney and liver failure, several blood disorders, birth defects and fetal toxicity, and blindness." With this abysmal record continuing on well into this century you only need to watch new ads for new drugs that have been approved for the U.S. market by the FDA that have at the very end of the ad state, oh by the way this drug could possibly kill you along with a nice long list of things it might do to your body and brain (Vioxx comes to mind.)

Busy Approving Dangerous Drugs

The FDA has been dueling for years against your right to use healthy organic food and food supplements like vitamins and minerals in your diet while they have been putting their stamp of approval on lethal patent meds that could kill you in a heartbeat!

FDA Science & Mission at Risk

In 2007 a former FDA commissioner Mark McClellan MD stated, "Over the last decade, complex scientific advances, globalization and challenging new safety issues have combined to multiply the responsibilities of the FDA. As this new report makes clear: our expectations cannot exceed the resources we give FDA to accomplish its mission. In this regard, more is definitely better." There is no mention of hiring competent researchers and scientists that will come to reasonable conclusions on drugs under study.

FDA Reform Needed

Some want additional resources to throw at the agency problem like more cash will always solve what is needed! What is actually needed is reform that is way overdue. The firing of those that approve dangerous lethal patented prescription meds to an unsuspecting public would not only improve the agencies credibility but would set a standard that they themselves would have to live up to. A change is needed soon or more Vioxx type drugs will be put in the hopper for mass consumption that could prove lethal to the FDA's image and reputation. The health of us all should be the goal here.

Helping Children to Cope With Trauma

Children may find it extremely difficult to disclose the traumatic event that they are internally dealing with, and without the right kind of support and help, the emotional and psychological effects of such an occurrence can be experienced during adolescence and adulthood further disrupting their normal functioning. The definition of a traumatic event includes first of all the subjective emotional experience of the event. Therefore, any circumstances that have as a result us feeling unsafe, afraid, powerless, or vulnerable, but not necessarily involving physical harm, can be traumatic, especially for a child.

Just to exemplify what events qualify as traumatic from a child's perspective we list the following: a serious illness that needs hospitalization and intrusive medical interventions (i.e. surgery), separation from a parent for a short or long period of time (i.e. in case of divorce), domestic violence (either the child being the victim or one of the parents), neglect, bullying at school, verbal, physical or sexual abuse, an unstable living environment (i.e. life on the road, moving often from one place to another).

Coping is a psychological mechanism that we all employ in order to deal with traumatic events and heal, but for children these coping techniques have not had the time to develop yet so that parents have to offer their full support and unconditional love to their child as he/she goes through the process:

· Create a safe and stable home environment for the child.

One of the most important and supportive things that you, as parent, can do for your child is to ensure that he/she does not have to go through other unnecessary distressful situations. Make sure your home is the place where your child feels free from harm, where he/she can be in control, where he/she is free to communicate without being judged or reprimanded. With every occasion reassure the child that nothing similar to the traumatic event will ever happen again and that you are there to make sure of that.

· Never belittle her/his traumatic experience.

Children who have experienced some traumatic event are often confronted with feelings of guilt and shame because they were not able to defend themselves. For this reason, a parent should never refer to the event as being unimportant, ignorable or unworthy of their attention. On the contrary, parents need to understand that a traumatic event is experienced very intense, reaching the depths of a child's whole emotional and psychological structure.

· Let the child express his/her feelings.

It is extremely important that the child can express his/her feelings whenever they feel like doing that, either through crying, talking or remembering parts of the event. This process helps the child enormously with accepting what happened and with moving on.

Another Reason That You Should Just Say No To Christmas

Beyond the fact that Santa Claus is NOT REAL and as a MAKE-BELIEVE character he does not deserve to take the credit for all of your hard work that goes into providing for your family! You would be well served to just say no to Christmas because the money you spend buying depreciating goods would be better served if you used it to save for your retirement and/or a rainy day.

I'm not sure if you heard this but one-third of all Americans have no money saved for retirement and about the same fraction of Americans have no savings at all. Despite these horrific statistics, millions of Americans will ignore their unfortunate financial realities and will instead run out to the nearest shopping center or log into a computer where we will make unwise Christmas purchases because we have been duped, hoodwinked, bamboozled, led-astray and conditioned to believe that in order to prove that we really love someone we must validate it by purchasing Christmas gifts. If you don't believe that we have been duped by commercialism, simply turn on your television. Lexus tells us each and every year that if we want December to be a time worth remembering, we have to go out and purchase a shiny new Lexus. Then there are the good folks at Jared Jewelers who have taken the liberty to inform us that if we really love a woman and we want her to be convinced of our love, we must go to Jared and buy her some expensive jewelry.

In the case of parents and children, we get bamboozled by commercialism too. Consequently, the average parent will generally spend around $700 purchasing Christmas gifts - gifts that in all probability will likely be tossed aside by our children in a month or less. Seven-hundred dollars' worth of gifts that will be enjoyed for less than a month seem to be equivalent to sticking 700 one-dollar bills in a shredder. We would be so much better served by placing the $700 we spend annually in a place where we could save for retirement or for that inevitable rainy day. For the finance and math majors among you, $700 per year for 18 years @ 8% interest is more than $31,000.

Somehow, I have the feeling that your children would be better served knowing that you had an account with $31,000 to use for a rainy day or to help them with the cost of a college education.

Web Video Will Turbocharge Your Social Media Efforts

When you own a business or are trying to sell a product or service, you need a way to set yourself apart from the crowd. Conventional sales methods are great, but the Internet has a large amount of opportunities for strategic marketing that can really get you noticed.

One clever and easy way to spread information about your valuable products, services or business is by using web videos. This medium for information has spread rapidly and more people than ever are watching videos on the web for entertainment and informational purposes. Sites like YouTube and Facebook have made sharing web videos effortless, making videos a good platform for anyone who wants to increase traffic to their website and turn that traffic into profits.

There are two keys to successful web videos: how they are made and how they are used. Make sure you enlist the help of a professional video production service with the skills and knowledge to create the best video for conveying your message.

As far as how your web video is used, this is where you can use social media as a way to give your video legs. So, how can you effectively use social media sites to spread your web video? Post your video across all of the social media sites that you use. Allow users to make comments and encourage sharing. If the video is high quality, funny, interesting and has a "wow" factor, people will watch the video and pass it on. As they make comments and re-tweet or re-post your video on their social media feeds, the video will continue to gain much needed exposure. The video will have legs of its own and will go viral, usually in just a matter of hours or days.

Social media has taken video marketing to the next level and you cannot afford to miss out. More people share videos that any other kind of media. Recent studies show that a person is more likely to share a video online than text content. The average social media user shares 5 videos for every 1 text article or news source. This means a person is 5 times more likely to share your online video.

Take advantage of the social media explosion and use online video marketing to promote your products, services or businesses. Do not miss out on the masses of people that you can reach with just one video. With YouTube receiving more than 3 billion hits per day, you need to capitalize on these huge numbers of people who are watching and sharing web videos. You can not only increase traffic to your website, but also increase web conversions to generate more revenue and expand your business. Social media will help your web videos go viral quickly!

Getting Google's Attention With AdSense

It's All About Look And Feel

Most of us respond better to visual stimuli than we do to reasoned discussion - or at least, we respond more immediately, which for the sake of advertisement means that it is more important to grab the audience's attention than it is to target their intelligence. This does not mean that you need to treat your audience like idiots - although most televised advertising might convince you that that is the case - but you do need to be prepared to grab your audience by the throat.

In the case of an AdSense website, this means that you need to have an appropriate look for your website. Use of color, of spacing and of images is important in this, as is the font you use for the written content. If your site looks like a quite hard-nosed analytical site and you're aiming to attract casual visitors, you're sunk before you've even set sail.

For example, let's say that the site you are managing is related to holiday deals. People associate holidays with the following things: sunshine, beaches, fun, relaxation, sight-seeing. They do not associate them with endless streams of reading. Having "warm" colors like yellow and orange in your background can make a big difference, as can graphics depicting sunshine and beaches.

For every article on your site, think of an image that will attract the casual visitor. A photograph of a beach with happy families playing on it has positive associations, and will encourage people to stay and read. An article about Paris (for example) can be illustrated with an image of a famous Parisian landmark. If people want to stay around, they will read, and they are more likely to click an ad while there.

Avoiding Negative Keywords - The Unforeseen Menace

When it comes to writing content for an AdSense website, there are obvious indications for what you want to include in the text. Hitting keywords on the money is always a good start - but you should also be aware of the danger of negative keywords - after all, it is AdSense that places the ads on your page, and it will do it based on what you talk about.

It is all too easy to accidentally hit a negative keyword because you are not thinking of it as a keyword. It is essential to read back over your content to see if you have - inadvertently - used a word more often than once and which could attract the wrong kind of advertising to your page. There is code that you can add - it's called "section targeting" code - that can make sure a certain term is not read as a keyword, but just as common-or-garden text.

This is important. If your site is about cooking, for example, you don't want to include too much text about how a certain ingredient can cause flatulence, because there is a risk that you will find ads related to flatulence cures turning up on the page - useful resources, no doubt, but not what you were aiming for. Section targeting the offending terms can be a way around this.

It is beneficial not to become too paralysed by rules, though. As long as you are concentrating on the keywords which you expect to attract the right visitors, then allowing one or two potentially negative keywords to creep in should not hurt you. Just make sure you mention your topic more often than you mention the "negative" stuff. This should prevent accidental advertisements.

AdSense And SEO - The Powerful Combination You Need

If you are looking into AdSense as a way of making money, you have probably heard at least tangentially about SEO, even if you have not looked any deeper into it. A good knowledge of SEO will certainly help you. Without it, it is entirely possible that you will make little or no money from your AdSense ventures.

SEO is primarily concerned with keywords, although all in all it is about more than that. Certainly, for it to work it needs to take account of keywords and specifically how often they are used and when they are used. People who know just a little about SEO, however, may make more and worse mistakes than people who don't think about it at all.

Many people have taken to stuffing articles with keywords because they think that, as long as the keywords are used, people will see the sites on Google and visit anyway. This, among other tricks, is known as "Black Hat SEO" (after the standard in movies about the Old West for having the bad guy wear a black hat and the good guy a white one). Google knows these tricks, and punishes them.

You should make sure you use the keywords in your article titles, and where possible you should look to have them in links and emphasized text (anything that is in bold, or italic text for example). You should use them in tags for your photos and in captions. You should not, however, try to trick Google with a landing page where the keywords are repeated en dlessly and which immediately forwards the visitor to the "real" site. Again, Google knows these tricks.

Where To Place Keywords For AdSense Success

Google did not rise to its current position in the internet hierarchy (most of us use it at least once a day) without the people behind it knowing their stuff - there are so many powerful logarithms doing their work every time you search that to find the sites manually would take thousands of times as long. However, this does not mean that you cannot help it along when you are trying to get traffic.

It is accepted that to get Google's attention, you will need to use keywords. A lot of people with some knowledge of SEO will try some tricks to get Google to look at their site - including the use of section targeting, which can be used to attract Google's attention as well as to turn it away. But if you want Google's attention, bear in mind that keyword stuffing will bring all the wrong kind of attention.

Placing your keywords is about artfully ensuring they are in relevant positions. They should be in your domain name. If your site is about fluffy bunny rabbits, then http: //www. fluffybunnyrabbits.com is an ideal name (and it doesn't appear to be taken yet). You will also want to have the phrase "fluffy bunny rabbits in page titles, links, contents and headings - as well as photo captions.

Basically, your job as a site owner looking for AdSense dollars is to think about what someone interested in your site might be searching for on Google and other search engines, and then work it into your site in as many of the above locations as you can. If it means that you have to lose out on a snappy, clever article title, well... every revolution must have its martyrs.

Why Do People Fail As Forex Traders?

It's quite amazing to discover that over 90% of those who begin their trading career lose their trading account within a short period of that. When I got to discover this fact, I was afraid of trading the forex market. Of course what's the use trading a market when majority of those into it are losers. I grew sceptical of what would be my fate if I eventually trade the market. But a thought flashed into my mind as I was about giving up the idea of taking forex trading as a career. The idea that flashed into my mind was, despite the fact that 90% are losing, then there must be about 10% of traders that are making all the money in the market. Also I compared that to any conventional business. In most conventional businesses, about 90% of people who begin a business lose and end up folding up the business. After my comparison, I thought to my self that it is quite possible to join the 10% of trader that are on the winning side. Through research and practice, I got to sift out the major reasons 90% of trader loss their trading account fast.

From my findings I noticed that the losing traits exist in the 90% of traders that are perpetual losers. If you can get rid of these traits, there's no reason why you can't succeed as a forex trader.

Below are some of the traits I got to discover. Take your time to study them thoroughly and I believe that together, we shall smile.

Trait Number 1: Jumping From One Strategy To Another

Most beginner traders are in the habit of moving from one trading strategy to another. The major reason behind this attitude is because, they hardly spend time to develop their trading system. When they encounter a string of loses, they jettison their trading system and go in search for the next best forex trading system they can find. When they encounter another string of loses as a result of implement their new system, they eventually jump ship and lot for any advertised trading strategy that promises 100% profit in return. When a trader moves from one system to another, he would eventually lose focus and that alone can kill your trading account fast. In forex trading, there's no holy grail. You need to sit down and develop a strategy until you are comfortable with it. That is why it is highly advisable to demo trade first before you start trading on a live account. Another disadvantage of jumping from one trading system to another is that you eventually lose confidence in your ability to trade well.

Trait 2: Poor Money Management

Bad money management is a disaster that many new traders experience in their journey toward become a millionaire trader in one day. Lack of proper understanding of this subject is the reason why there are more losing traders than winners. To succeed as a trader, you must know what money management is and how to adjust it into your trading plan.

Trait 3: Not Using Stop Loss

This is a common problem with many new traders. They expect to be right all the time and so they feel that it is a crime for them to lose a trade. In their pursuit to win all their trades, they don't use stop loss and so they leave their trading account exposed. The purpose of stop loss is to protect your trading account in case there is a move that goes against you while trading. What most traders think is that the market would always reverse and move in their favour so they will keep a trade open and wait. Most often than not, the never move in their direction, instead the market continues its journey against their trade. If this happens for a long period of time, it would eventually wipe out their account. There are times some traders are lucky to win trades without stop loss, but be rest assured that if that kind of system continues, their account would soon be gone forever.

Trait Number 4:Get Quick Rich Scheme

Many beginner traders think that the forex market is an avenue to make big money in a short period of time. As a result of their belief, they enter trades with big lot size and expect to make 100% profit in a day or a week. When they are disappointed as a result of what they see, they begin to complain.

Study these losing traits and avoid them like plaque if you want to succeed in the business of forex trading.
